Founded by attorney and legal scholar Christopher D. Boom, JD, LLM, PhD, Boom Law is a boutique immigration  firm specializing in appellate removal defense and research-based visas. With over 15 years experience in immigration law, Dr. Boom represents immigrants around the world before the United States Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and Courts of Appeal. 

Through motions, appeals, and petitions for review, Dr. Boom has advocated for removal defendants in various federal circuit courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and immigration judges across the United States. In both his practice and scholarship, Dr. Boom is especially experienced in in absentia removal and asylum, withholding of removal, and Convention Against Torture cases. 

In Absentia Removal

Dr. Boom has advocated for countless clients ordered removed in their absence with motions to reopen, BIA appeals, and circuit court PFRs. Cases he's argued have been featured in Law360 and LexisNexis's Bender's Immigration Case Reporter. Additionally, his scholarly writing on in absentia removal has appeared in the American Immigration Lawyers Association Law Journal and the New Orleans Bar Association Blog. 

Asylum, Withholding, and Convention Against Torture 

Boom Law's appellate advocacy also specializes in BIA appeals and circuit court PFRs for clients denied asylum, withholding of removal, or CAT protection. As with in absentia removal, Dr. Boom is recognized for his scholarly work in this area as well, with publications in the International Journal of Refugee Law and Springer's Handbook of Migration Ethics.
